We are currently not offering lessons at this time
All new riders and many of our returning riders should sign up for 1/2 hour private lessons. Please check in with Alyssa if you have any doubt about whether you are ready to move to a group lesson.
Our riding program has a no make-up policy. We will hold each scheduled lesson. When the weather is incompatible with mounted lessons we will continue our learning inside. Instruction will cover horse handling and care, tacking and grooming. Being able to independently tack, untack and groom is a vital part of horsemanship and critical to a riders ability to move up to the next training level.
Please be ready at your lesson time with your helmet and boots on and ready to ride. We do our best to stay on schedule and need to start and end on time.
We look forward to working with all of our new and returning students this spring.
Please take the time to carefully read the following information and review the helmet policy below prior to registering your rider.
All riders must wear an ASTM SEI approved equestrian riding helmet. There are no exceptions.
We take safety very seriously and hope that you will also!
Helmets are neither one size fits all, nor interchangeable between sports. We can not stress this enough- if your child arrives in a bike, scooter or ski helmet they will not be able to ride one of our horses.
Equestrian helmets are tested by the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) for Chinstrap retention, penetration by a sharp object, and for impact absorption. These tests are specifically for horseback riding related accidents.
We are licensed and insured to only teach students in an approved riding helmet. We are unwilling to put our license, our livelihood nor your child’s safety at risk. Please do not register for a riding program at Churchill Stables if you are unwilling to purchase the requisite equipment.
